The Alfa Romeo team has come far from what seemed would have been a terrible season of F1 for them after the pre-season testing rounds, where they neither had the pace nor the mileage. And things have around so much so that both the drivers finished with points at the opening race in Bahrain.

Valtteri Bottas, who’s partnering alongside Guanyu Zhou, is also impressed by the car’s performance. After having finished 6th in Bahrain, he had to retire his car in Saudi Arabia following power issues. But until then, he seemed to be fighting for P6 alongside the two Alpines of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon.

Speaking of this battle, Valtteri Bottas, as quoted by the GP Fans, said, “I think we had a good race until [the retirement]. I was battling with Fernando, and he also retired in the end. I think I was fighting for P6, so the car is okay. If anything, maybe we had a slight upper hand to Alpine, that was the feeling, so not bad.”

The Saudi Arabian GP saw intense battles for different positions on the grid. Apart from Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc’s battle for the win, we saw a thrilling battle for P6 between Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon, which was later joined by Valtteri Bottas.

The Finnish driver seemed glad by it. He said, “It was good to see teammates battling and being allowed to battle, that is the main thing, so I didn’t mind. At least in the beginning of the season, it is nice to see people going properly wheel to wheel.”

The Alfa Romeo is off to a good start than anyone would’ve anticipated, and Valtteri Bottas seems to have gelled quite well in the Italian team. If encountered no failure with no repeated failures with the car, the driver can surely put the team up much higher in the championship than were last year.
