‘WHAT JUST HAPPENED!’ E-sports driver, Lucas Blakeley in TEARS after shock win over Sebastian Vettel at Race of Champions 2022

Lucas Blakeley, Formula One E-sports driver did the unthinkable on Saturday, as he defeated Sebastian Vettel in the Race of Champions 2022. Germany were up against Team USA, as Blakeley shocked the four time F1 champion in the first round.

The Race of Champions 2022 is held in Sweden this time around, with the tracks being covered in snow. Lucas recorded a timing of 1:02.361 as compared to Vette’s timing of 1:02.281 to cause one of the upsets of the week so far.

Lucas Blakeley could himself not believe as to what had transpired and took to Twitter to reveal his emotions. ROC is an eight team event which is conducted every year. Team USA will now face Team Finland in the semifinals of the 2022 edition.

It was an extraordinary day for the sim racer, who went out there and did the E-sports community proud. The American revealed that he was a bit emotional after his win, and his overwhelmed with the response he has received.

I can’t keep up with everything at the moment, but I just want to say a huge thank you @jarno_opmeer and I went out there to make Sim Racing proud, and I hope we did that for you all And I’d be lying to say if I wasn’t tearing up writing this,” wrote Lucas on Twitter.

Fans on Twitter are also shocked with the result, as no one ever expected a sim racer to go and beat a four time F1 champion. This will surely go down as one of the upsets in the entire ROC history.
