Super Bowl LIX is live and those watching at home are being fed possibly the best production from FOX Sports. At least that is what the NFL thought they would do with the likes of seven-time winner Tom Brady covering his first big game as an analyst.
Fans, though, have seen the legendary quarterback progress from early bland analysis to being average and then doing well when analyzing plays. Brady has been a revelation as an analyst, bringing his wealth of experience along with his subtle trolls and witty throwbacks.
That improved coverage now has FOX breathing a sigh of relief that the $375 million deal they signed Tom Brady to is not going to waste. However, they wanted to make it even better for fans. They designed a new scorebug to help fans understand the game more.
The new scorebug does away with the old smaller one that used to show the teams in small fonts. Those scorebugs were supposed to be as small as possible. Then fans can have an unobstructed view of the game.
This new scorebug, though, has been designed with bold fonts. The idea could be that with larger televisions becoming a norm in almost every household, bigger fonts would not interfere with the remaining real estate.
It also means those hosting watch parties at home do not have to be close to the television. They could see the score clearly, which with the earlier scorebugs was a little difficult, especially for those watching from afar.
Fans troll FOX’s new scorebug for lackluster creativity
Football fans watching Super Bowl LIX were left in splits watching the new scorebug. What they could not understand is that it looked as if a child drew it. The lack of creativity was evident as it just looked like a massive font with background colors. For fans, they were aghast that this is all FOX Sports could come up with.
They would have expected the network to bring in something that would excite fans. Rather, they were quick to suggest other networks had it better, or that FOX Sports should just go back to their old scorebug.
It looks absolutely awful. Ridiculous.

Apart from the scorebug issue, fans watching FOX Sports’ broadcast saw Patrick Mahomes throw two interceptions. That helped the Philadelphia Eagles to bring the score up to 24-0. Now the Kansas City Chiefs face a tough task. They have to be the second team to come back from such a deficit to win Super Bowl LIX.
