The Paris Olympics opening ceremony took a major hit after trying to take on a few elements of their own which was shunned by a majority of the world. The latest edition of the Summer Games was officially declared open last night as rains plagued Paris. Despite a handful of vibrant performances from the likes of Celine Dion and Lady Gaga, fans weren’t happy about what they saw at the Opening Ceremony.
One of the major factors of the Opening Ceremony that displeased fans was how Christianity was mocked with one stunt after the other. In an event, men in drag tried to replicate the iconic ‘Last Supper’, a painting forged by the legendary Leonardo da Vinci. This hit a personal chord because the painting showed the last supper of Jesus Christ after which he was betrayed by Judas leading to his crucifixion.
What was even more shocking was that there was a child in the celebration among the drag queens which infuriated the fans beyond an incomprehensible degree. In another instance, a man was seen provocatively dancing in a dress. This certainly hit quite a few raw nerves. People were quick to spot this as a blatant mockery of everything divine.
There was another scene where a man was seen riding on an electric horse. One user pointed out that it was flouting the Bible which stated that one who would ride the pale horse is none other than Death and what followed thereafter was the introduction of Hell. With the rising concern amongst the fans, what was supposed to be a grand overture, turned into a disaster.
This is what fans had to say about the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics
X formerly saw an outpour of rage from the fans as they pointed out every single incident and why it was a direct assault on Christianity. With the inclusion of the child in the mix, people were alarmed that it was also a promotion for pedophiles.
Despite all the hatred, there were certainly the country contingents who sailed on the boats through the iconic River Seine in Paris while the majestic Eiffel Tower watched on in all its glory. The rain certainly played a spoilsport which added to the disappointment of the fans.
At the end of it all, the overall reactions had a few question marks being raised. However, from a holistic approach, the positives came together with the negatives and it turned out into a balanced and mixed review.
