“Francis Ngannou is one of the easier fights for Jon Jones” Anthony Smith gives his opinion on Jones-Ngonnou match up

UFC legend Jon Jones had been pitching in for a blockbuster matchup with with Francis Ngannou at a potential move up to heavyweight. Both the fighters had a back and forth on twitter. The MMA community began to go crazy, at the thought of the two superstars colliding. However, it ultimately fell through, just when it seemed as if the fight could take place.
Speculations were running wild as to the cause of the fallout, since there seemed to be enough of fan support to lock it in. But the fact was that Dana White did not go ahead with the match due to Jones asking for an “astronomical” sum of money. And the match never really took place. But that hasn’t stopped fans and fighters alike, from speculating about how the match would have went down, had it taken place. Anthony Smith, competing in the UFC’s lightweight division, is one of them.

Speaking to MMA crazy, Smith had heavy praise to heap on the lightweight legend. He stated that there were not many fighters who could pose as a problem to Jones. “He’s just built perfectly for fighting. He’s six five or six six with a huge reach advantage and the way that he manages distance with his kicks and stuff but like the shorter stockier guys aren’t gonna give him too many problems,” Smith stated.
However, he did name a few fighters who he thought had a chance against Jones, saying: ” Stipe (Stioe Miocic) will give him problems, i think a guy like Volkov(Alexander Volkov) will give him problems. And i know that one’s probably kind of surprising a lot of people don’t don’t see that but like that’s that’s the one guy that like i don’t think anyone’s thinking about that will give Jon Jones problems.”
Speaking about Ngannou, Smith felt that it would be an easy fight for Jones, “You know francis maybe, but if i’m being honest I think Francis Nganno, if as long as Jon doesn’t get caught i think Fancis is one of the easier fights in the division for Jon. Because of his because of his style like that’s a tough fight for Stipe, because of his size and his his body type. His reach and his his the way that Stipe wrestles, and the way that he grapples that’s a tough you know francis is a tough fight for stipe. I think jon jone clinches, francis trips him and mauls him, but yeah again you can’t ever count out Francis, that dude’s got grenades in his hand. So uh, i don’t know i think he beats most of them,” Smith stated.
