Chelsea suffered yet another loss in the Premier League, a 2-0 defeat against Leicester. Frank Lampard was heavily scrutinized after the loss as his failed to create an impact on the pitch.

Lampard spent nearly $300 million in the summer to bring in Timo Werner, Havertz, Ziyech and Chilwell. The newly bought players haven’t hit their stride in the Premier League so far and Lampard has copped a lot of criticism.

Chelsea are 8th in the Premier League

Lampard’s tactics have come under the scanner

Chelsea slipped to their 5th loss in 8 games in the Premier League. Lampard has often drawn flak for misreading the game and is now under pressure to maintain his managerial post.

Chelsea had a decent start to the Premier League but haven’t been able to continue that momentum in recent games. Lampard himself acknowledged his side’s problems after the Leicester match.

“From the form we were in, to get so quickly into the form we’re now in .We should be better than that. Five losses in eight isn’t where we want to be,” Lampard said.

It takes character to turn from that – I went with quite a young team today so they won’t be feeling nice. I’m not against the lads in the dressing room because they’re disappointed. They learned a lesson from a team playing well and we were that team a month ago.”

On asked about his future at the club, Lampard was quick to point out it wasn’t his decision. “It’s not my decision. That’s something that will always be there.”

“When I came into this job, the job of management, you understand some things are beyond your control.”

Chelsea vs Leicester

Lampard was one of the best players for Chelsea over the years and he knows what it takes to manage a club of this nature. He will need to churn out results in the upcoming games to keep his job.

Chelsea are currently 8th in the league and 5 points off Champions League qualification. A Champions league qualification is the minimum requirement to stay at the job as he had said in his pre-match conference.
