Frank Lampard admits he wanted to bring in Declan Rice to Chelsea

Declan Rice

Since his departure from the managerial position at Chelsea football club, Frank Lampard has hardly come in front of the camera. German coach Thomas Tuchel has replaced Frank Lampard as the head coach currently.

Tuchel has done a fine job up until now with the blues. He’s lost just one match so far in his time as coach and has taken the team to the UEFA Champions League quarter finals.

Frank Lampard wanted Declan Rice from West Ham United

It’s no secret that Frank Lampard was a huge admirer of Declan Rice of West Ham United. The young English defensive midfielder was one of the priority players for Lampard and he wanted to get him desperately. Moreover with the kind of Summer transfer window Chelsea had last season, Rice could have easily made his way to Stamford Bridge.

Now you see him in the England squad and quickly you don’t see an England team without Declan in it.

Declan Rice is a fantastic prospect for the England National Team and both Gareth Southgate and David Moyes know this. Manchester United are also amongst the club’s who are interested in signing up Declan.

We are fortunate to have him in England, West Ham are fortunate to have him. He’s a leader and it is clear that he’s destined for great things. I have probably given it away with how I spoke about him but I think it’s common knowledge that I was a big fan of his.

It didn’t happen for various reasons, but we brought in a lot of players in the summer. But I was a big fan of him. For understandable reasons, West Ham know the player that they have on their hands.

Declan Rice wanted the chelsea move desperately this summer and Frank lampard wanted him and was prepared to bid 70 million for the player. Additionally with best friend Mason Mount already at Chelsea it would make a lot of sense.
