Chelsea are ready to offload young centre back Fikayo Tomori this January transfer window. Tomori is being pursued by Italian club AC Milan for a loan move with a buy option as well.

Other clubs in England which includes the likes of Leeds United were also interested in the English international but it looks like the San Siro is his preferred destination.

Frank Lampard believes a loan move best for Fikayo Tomori

Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has said that a move away from the club would currently do Fikayo Tomori the world of good as he believes the youngster will get valuable experience and can come back later.

Fikayo Tomori was an integral part of the young Frank Lampard team which helped Chelsea secure the UEFA Champions League spot last season. He regularly featured in the starting line up partnering French international Kurt Zouma alongside.

However this season with the arrival of Thiago Silva it’s become difficult for Fikayo Tomori to get any regular playing time. He has featured mostly in the cup competition like the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Popular transfer window spokesman Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the news. He says that it’s only a matter of days at this point of time and the Tomori transfer will be concluded soon.

Fabrizio Romano confirms the news

I don’t think there’s any ‘when did it start to go wrong’, Fikayo’s a developing player. As a squad, we had four centre-backs last year, and you can’t play four in one game,”

And you try to find consistency at different times. At one point Fikayo was in that, and then later on not so much. And this year we have five centre-backs, so the predicament is difficult for centre-backs who are not playing regularly.

And that’s why he may go out on loan for his development, he’s a young player and he’s had a huge rise in the last two or so seasons since I’ve been working with him, and that will continue, and we’ll find the best path for that.”
