Frank Lampard has full faith in Timo Werner despite lack of goals
Chelsea defeated West Ham United by three goals to nil in the Premier League. Goals from Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham secured the win for the Blues.
However cause for concern of the Chelsea fans us the lack of goals from Timo Werner at this point of time.
Timo Werner is not frustrated with lack of goals
Chelsea brought in striker Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in the summer. The German international cost them approximately $72 million. However he’s yet to reach full capability here at London.
Although 8 goals and 5 assists in his first 20 games isn’t bad, everyone knows he’s capable of a lot more. With goals abundant at RB Leipzig it’s what made him so good.
Timo Werner has now gone goalless for his last 9 games. This is his longest drought equalling the one he suffered at RB Leipzig after the switch from Stuttgart.
Even though he’s not securing goals, he’s still managing to squeeze in assists for his teammates.
I talk to him all the time but I don’t sense frustration,” said Lampard at Wednesday’s press conference. “I think it’s clear that as a striker you want to be scoring regularly, as he has done in his career. “But at the same time every striker has moments when the ball doesn’t drop for you for whatever reasons.
The positive thing is he’s getting chances in games, he’s using his attributes to get into the box, he’s getting chances, so they’ll come.”
