Frank Lampard says he wants more from the players after Leicester City loss
Chelsea slipped down to the eight position after they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City in the Premier League. Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison were the two scorers for the hosts.
Manager Frank Lampard is now under immense pressure to keep his job as time runs out to prove himself.
Frank Lampard speaks after Leicester City loss
It’s safe to say that Frank Lampard’s sacking now looks imminent with the club already looking at other options to replace him. Lampard who has been given the full support of the club’s financial services has failed to make any impact.
The new signings haven’t clicked very well and there looks to be a lack of tactics in his gameplan. There’s no doubt that Chelsea have the firepower to make amends this season but if they continue like this then things aren’t looking good.
Timo Werner did get a goal for Chelsea but unfortunately that was ruled out by the video assistant referee. Leicester City could’ve scored more goals had it not been for the efforts of goalkeeper Eduoard Mendy.
We were beaten by the better team,’ said Lampard. ‘The general theme of our performance was slower, was more sluggish, was lacking confidence but also lacking a bit of desire to run. That comes down to confidence at times. When a team is confident, they look like Leicester, like we did a month ago.
‘They were sharper than us, they ran more than us and they showed real moments of quality. They looked like a team in form, we looked like a team out of form.
‘I’m disappointed with both the goals. It’s pivotal when you come to a team in good form you stay in the game early. We know we can compete with Leicester when we’re playing well, but when you go 2-0 down and you’re in a difficult period of form it affects the game hugely.
