Frank Lampard set to be sacked as manager by Chelsea right after win over Luton in FA Cup as Premier League performances falter
This season has been a downward ride for Frank Lampard and his men and it could be said that he was better of last season when he only had academy players to rely on to perform and not expensive stars

Frank Lampard’s tumultuous reign at Chelsea Football Club is set to be brought to an end today as Roman Abramimovich shows his strict side yet again. Previous manager Andre Villas-Boas, Jose Mourinho and Maurizio Sarri were sacked ruthlessly and Frank Lampard’s status as the club’s best player wasn’t enough to keep him in the dugout. The name of Thomas Tuchel is being floated around as he is a German and will get the best of underperforming duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz.

Matt Law of Daily Telegraph reports that the announcement is expected today

Frank Lampard’s initial year at Chelsea was lauded and he deserved every single praise for it as he guided Chelsea to a fourth place finish in the Premier League. This was achieved despite Chelsea having a 2 year ban and having had to rely on the Academy players. Young players Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Reece James, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Christian Pulisic were the ones who brought in the goods for Chelsea as they had to contend with the departure of Eden Hazard. Nevertheless, Chelsea dropped strong performances and played a lot of great matches.

After having spent nearly 250 million pounds in the transfer market this season when every club in the world was suffering from the pandemic, Chelsea have been underperforming criminally. Young players like Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech and Malang Saar were signed and they weren’t cheap. Experienced centre-back Thiago Silva was signed too from PSG to improve their defence. However Chelsea have played terrible football since the reinforcements arrived and it could be said that they were better without signing any of these players except Mendy and Thiago Silva.

They currently sit 9th in the Premier League and are 11 points behind leaders Manchester United. It will not get easy for them, but a new manager can be expected to steady the sinking ship.
