In the first bout to determine the new undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in more than 20 years, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk went to war. Usyk won after fighting a long battle for 12 rounds and winning via split decision. Subsequently, Fury has now vowed to redeem himself and has initiated the rematch clause in their contract. Furthermore, Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, reckons the rematch will be bigger than the first.
Even though he lost, Fury believed that he had done enough to win and even complained about being ripped off. Similarly, Warren also believes that Fury should have won after witnessing the fight ringside. In an interview on The MMA Hour, he explained how he scored the fight, giving Fury the win in several rounds. Subsequently, Warren said Usyk showed some good signs in the later rounds, but he believes Fury took control in the final round.

The first fight was already a big deal due to the historical significance the fight had. After the fight, a few people were still contemplating about whether Usyk won or if Fury should have. Hence, Warren believes that this will cause the rematch to be more massive than their first fight.
In addition, Warren stated that after his 47 years of experience as a promoter, he can predict a real battle. The fight was already quite brutal, and both fighters suffered several injuries and bruises. As such, Warren predicted an even better rematch.
Turki Alalshikh sets date for fight
Right after the fight, Tyson Fury and Usyk began discussing the rematch during the post-fight ring interview. The Gypsy King was clearly disheartened after hearing the judge’s score and wanted a second chance. Usyk also mentioned that he is ready for a rematch after this fight.
As such, Turki Alalshikh, the person in charge of Saudi Arabia’s huge boxing events, announced the rematch. Furthermore, it has been set to happen on December 21. This means that both fighters will again have several months to recover and prepare.
This fight is again catering to what boxing fans want to witness. Furthermore, Alalshikh stated that they will continue to make big matches happen.
