Tiger Woods will not be playing in the 2026 Masters Tournament. On Tuesday, the golfer took to his social media account and revealed that he would be taking a break from golf. Fred Ridley, the chairman of the Masters Tournament, later extended his support to him.
The former World No.1 found himself in trouble on March 27 following a car crash. While trying to avoid a collision with a cleaner truck, he would flip over his luxury SUV. This incident was reported to have taken place around 2 p.m. near his residence in Jupiter, Florida.
Despite the golfer testing negative for alcohol consumption, he was arrested. He had refused to take part in a urinalysis and was booked under charges of DUI, refusal to submit and property damage.
The internet was left stunned after this development broke it. This took place just a few days after he had returned to the TGL and played in the finals for his team, Jupiter Links GC.
4 days after his subsequent crash, arrest and release on bail, the golfer broke his silence. In a post on X, he announced stepping away from golf and seeking treatment for his health.
I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.

Woods, a 5-time Masters Tournament winner, has a lifetime exemption in the Masters Tournament due to his status as a past champion. In 2024, he set a new record for the most consecutive cuts made in this event at 24. He then went on to finish 60th in the standings.
PGA Tour also made a statement regarding Tiger Woods
