Lately, the internet has been buzzing about Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, specifically his wife, Kelly Stafford. She recently revealed that she once dated her husband’s backup to make him jealous before they got married. Although Kelly mentioned it casually during her appearance on the ‘Off the Vine with Kristin Bristowe‘ podcast, the story went viral on the internet.

Things escalated very quickly after fans identified who Kelly was talking about–based on the description she gave, even though she didn’t mention the name. She also had to endure grave criticism from the fans as they called her out for dragging an innocent family into the sudden and negative limelight.

To make things better, the star quarterback’s wife issued a public apology by sharing a family picture of Joe Cox with his wife and their three children on her Instagram story. Kelly surely cleared her consciense with the apology, but whether it really helped is a major question now.

As much as Ryan Clark attempted to resonate with the former cheerleader’s apology, his co-host Fred Taylor completely disagreed with that notion in an episode of The Pivot. He claimed that Matthew’s wife made things worse with her public apology, not only for Cox but also for her own husband.

Kelly’s selfish, at the end of the day she is very f**king selfish. I mean to even bring it up…it makes absolutely zero sense and then they double down and bring this man’s entire family out of the woodwork. He was at peace, chilling. So I think she’s selfish, it was very unnecessary to initiate. It was unnecessary to form that sort of apology.

He then called out Kelly for putting the entire Cox family online and bringing them embarrassment. He also highlighted that it’s humiliating for her husband, Matthew, as he would have to deal with it “at every stadium,” not to mention the number of memes that would be made about it.

Taylor mentioned that even if Kelly’s apology was sincere and heartfelt, the way she did it was wrong.
