The San Francisco 49ers wanted to have a quiet off-season. They wanted to prepare in their quest to win a Super Bowl after a three-decade-long dry patch. However, leading wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and his contract have become front and center news for every fan and media outlet. Teammate Fred Warner though, has a different take on this situation.

The 3-time All-Pro linebacker was a guest on the radio show 95.7 The Game. There when prodded about the contract dispute situation involving his teammate Aiyuk and the impact on the locker room, had quite a few things to say.

Obviously, when your part of such a talented roster, I feel like this is something that goes on every season, and it's a good issue to have because, obviously, that means that your players are performing at such a high level that you have to have these kinds of conversations. And it's part of the business, and so, obviously, we all just let them handle that, and when he's back, he's back, and we will welcome with open arms.

Fred Warner‘s comments suggest that the entire situation has galvanized the roster. Knowing that their hard work can pay off with a big contract.

To be fair, no organization wants to pay their players what they are fully worthy of. The goal is to be financially flexible so that a Super Bowl window can be kept open for as long as possible. That leads to negotiations which eventually land the franchise and the player in question at a compromise.

Brandon Aiyuk would certainly want the compromise to be something which shows that he is valued. As of right now, he is not feeling that way. That lack of feeling valued led him to file a trade request.

Brandon Aiyuk fits the San Francisco 49ers system

It seems the San Francisco 49ers expected the contract negotiations to go south, which is why they drafted Ricky Pearsall as a potential replacement. With the trade request in place, it forced the 49ers hand. But they will not move Brandon Aiyuk unless the compensation is worth it, as the All-Pro fits the 49ers system beautifully.

His usage of his agility and quick bursts of speed helps him separate from defenders. That helps the 49ers’ offense use quick short drives to help them reach the end zone faster than other teams. However, he is not a short-route runner. His ability to separate at the top of the key makes defending against him a nightmare. All of that helped him rack up his best totals this past season.

The combination is not rare, but not to be found easily. Ricky Pearsall might eventually become that. But it takes a while for any rookie to play at the same level as a seasoned All-Pro such as Brandon Aiyuk. Therefore, the San Francisco 49ers will need him if they want to take a shot at a Super Bowl.
