Fred Warner makes a surprising claim about Brock Purdy’s future with 49ers

In 2023, Brock Purdy finished his first year as the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers with a Super Bowl appearance and was voted the fourth-best player in the MVP race. The sky was the limit for the 23-year-old until his flight took a nosedive in 2024.
The 49ers ended the campaign with a 6-11 record and dead last in the NFC West. Once more, Purdy’s old tag as the ‘game manager’ returned because he struggled to cope without his two primary targets: Christian McCaffrey and Brandon Aiyuk.
McCaffrey provided the speed and explosiveness while Aiyuk’s deep route running helped free other players like Deebo Samuel, who also experienced a down year. If Purdy had signed a contract after the 2023 season, then there were speculations that he might bag a salary close to $50 million a year. However, only 12 months later, it’s unclear whether it will come to fruition.
Regardless of how the season transpired, Purdy has the backing of Fred Warner. The star linebacker appeared in the recent segment of ESPN’s Postseason NFL Countdown and endorsed the Pro Bowler as the 49ers franchise quarterback for years to come.

Fred Warner discloses what makes Brock Purdy an elite quarterback
Purdy’s journey from rugs to potential riches inspires and encourages future athletes. Drafted as the last overall, Purdy’s big break arrived in 2022 when both 49ers starting quarterbacks picked up injuries. He led the team to the NFC Championship game and only lost it because he was less than 100% himself because of a bruised shoulder.
The following year, he played in the Super Bowl and led the Kansas City Chiefs at halftime, only to lose the game in overtime. In 2024, his touchdown passes decreased while witnessing an increase in his interception percentage—although it was negligible.
Purdy ended the year with 3,864 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while adding 323 rushing yards and five touchdowns despite playing without his top receiver, running back, cornerback, left tackle, and linebackers.
The All-Pro edge rusher announced that Purdy will not only get a big paycheck but also win the Super Bowl, fittingly at 49ers Levi’s Stadium.
Purdy, on the other hand, wants to complete the signing of his new contract without much fuss.
Purdy currently is among the lowest-earning players in the NFL. He signed a rookie contract for 4 years, worth $3,737,008 with the 49ers, including a $77,008 signing bonus, $77,008 guaranteed. Additionally, his average annual salary is $934,252, and in 2025, Purdy will earn a base salary of $1,100,000 while carrying a cap hit of $1,119,252.
