Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman recently introduced his new family member Champ to the world. Soon after the World Series win, Freeman and his family adopted a cat to their family.

Seems like Shohei Ohtani and his buddy Decoy have gotten a new friend too. Freeman’s wife Chelsea posted the updates on social media, as their son held a sign “I’m going home.”

Freeman was also seen cuddling with his new buddy while Champ seemed comfortably sleeping alongside their son in another photo. They apparently adopted Champ from The Stray Cat Alliance, an LA-based non-profit organization.

Freddie Freeman further added on social media, “When you take a nap and wake up to a new cat.” The phrase was apparently shot at redefining “cat nap”, as per Scott Chiusano of MLB.com.

Unlike Ohtani, whose dog name was shrouded in mystery for a long time, Freeman introduced Champ right in the moment. Later, Ohtani mentioned that he thought American people would not be able to pronounce the name ‘Dekopin’ so he nicknamed him ‘Decoy’.

To continue the World Series Championship celebrations and make it a long-lasting memory, the Freeman family named their cat Champ. Freeman was named the World Series MVP after recording consecutive HRs to boost the team to victory.

Fans on social media have been going crazy over Champ. They undoubtedly fell in love with the feline the moment posts about him started going viral. One X user noted, “This dude is a walking Hallmark movie”, while another said, “Champ & Decoy will be best friends.”

The Dodgers World Series celebrations will continue for a long time. Freeman will be remembered as the MVP of his performance, especially the Game 5 walk-off grand slam. With ongoing changes in the team, the Dodgers are once again getting ready for the 2025 Championship run.
