As the Los Angeles Dodgers gear up for a trip to New York after taking a 2-0 series lead, first baseman Freddie Freeman finds himself in an exclusive club. Following his performances in the first two games of the 2024 World Series, he matched a record which was accomplished 101 years in 1923 by Babe Ruth.

Freeman stole the show in Game 1 after he hit a walk-off grand slam. By doing so, he became the first player to hit a walk-off grand slam in World Series history.

Apart from this grand slam, Freeman also managed a triple in Game 1. In Game 2, he was one of three hitters from the Dodgers to hit a home run.

With this home run, he became just the second player after Ruth to have multiple home runs and a triple from the first two games of the World Series. Ruth accomplished this feat against the New York Giants, which helped his side win the World Series by four games to two.

Another interesting stat is that Freeman has now hit a home run in four consecutive World Series matches. During his first appearance in the Fall Classic in 2021 with the Atlanta Braves, the now-35-year-old star hit a home run in Game 5 and Game 6 against the Houston Astros.

After Game 2, Freddie Freeman joined the MLB on Fox crew of Derek JeterAlex RodriguezDavid Ortiz, and Kevin Burkhardt to speak about his performances. He was then informed about this multiple home runs and triple in first two games of the series feat by A-Rod which led to Freeman claiming he was “shocked” to hear it.

The Dodgers star would laugh it off and stated that the “triple” was more shocking to him. Apart from this, the 8-time MLB All-Star also pointed out that six-day gap between the NLCS and the World Series was huge for him as he struggled with an ankle injury.

Yeah, I think the triples more more shocking to be honest. You know, I just those six days off were huge for me in between NLCS and the World Series. So hopefully with the flight tonight. I’ve been swelling a lot on flight. So hopefully we can tomorrow we can get it down.

Freddie Freeman said on MLB on Fox postgame show

Freeman and his teammates now have one day off as they travel to New York for Games 3, 4 and a possible Game 5. A win on Monday night, would put the Dodgers one step closer to their eighth World Series title.
