As the Los Angeles Dodgers geared up to take on the Atlanta Braves on Monday, they were missing one key piece in their lineup. 2024 World Series winner Freddie Freeman was pulled out of the game against his former side after he suffered a freak ankle injury in the shower.

According to reports, the first baseman suffered this injury on Saturday. He was reported to have slipped up in the shower and tweaked his ankle, the same ankle which caused him trouble last season. As a result of this, he missed the chance to face his former team.

Freeman initially suffered an ankle injury during the 2024 postseason. Despite this issue, he kept on playing for the team. Following a slow start in the National League Division Series (NLDS) and the National League Championship Series (NLCS), he fired up in the World Series.

In the series against the New York Yankees, Freeman was named as the MVP as he hit 4 home runs in 4 successive games and led the team to World Series glory. In the offseason, he would undergo a surgery regarding his ankle and was expected to miss the entire Spring Training.

He though did play in the Spring Training and was part of the team that went to Japan to take on the Tokyo Series. However, he did not play in those games due a discomfort in his ribs. Freeman took part in the 3-game series against the Tigers and hit 2 home runs while having 4 RBI. After the win on Saturday, he tweaked his right ankle while entering the shower.

Freddie Freeman had a “mishap” entering the shower at home and tweaked the same surgically-repaired right ankle, Dave Roberts said. Won’t be available tonight and is day to day.
