8-time MLB All-Star Freddie Freeman played an important role in the World Series triumph of the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024. He was named the MVP of the series against the New York Yankees as he played through the Fall Classic through injury. As a result of these injuries he is set to miss the entire Spring training.

After a slow start to the NLDS and the NLCS, Freeman woke up in the World Series. Freeman hit a walk-off grand slam in Game 1 of the World Series.

This turned out to be the first walk-off slam in World Series history as the Dodgers won 6-3 against the Yankees. He would carry this momentum forward as he hit a home in Game 2, 3 and 4 as well.

During the Dodgers FanFest on Saturday, the 35-year-old stated that he would not be playing in the games during Spring Training. However, he is right on track to play in the Tokyo Series against the Chicago Cubs in March.

I think by the time I get to Spring Training… I should be probably full-bore hitting-wise, like taking batting practice with the guys, being able to do live BPs… I don’t think I will be in the games (Spring Training) at the beginning. As of right now, I am on track to be able to play in Tokyo.

Freddie Freeman told the reporters at Dodgers FanFest

The pitchers and catchers will report to Spring training at the Camelback Ranch on February 11. The first full-squad workout and training is scheduled to take place from February 15.

As the Spring training draws closer, the excitement for the new season among fans has started to grow. Ahead of the 2025 season, the MLB Network released their annual top-10 players list for each position. This year, Freddie Freeman has been named as the No.1 first baseman for the upcoming year.

In the 2024 regular season, he participated in 147 games. During this, he hit 22 home runs and drove in 89 runs as he formed a formidable offensive trio with Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani. As for the postseason, he came up clutch in the World Series with 4 home runs and 12 RBI while batting with a .277 average.

All of this has led to him being named the No.1 1B in the league. Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper takes the second spot with Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves coming in third.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Yandy Diaz, William Contreras, Christian Walker, Pete Alonso, Nathaniel Lowe, and Paul Goldschmidt complete the top-10 list.

Recently, the MLB Network has gone under firing from the fans regarding their top-10 shortstop and second baseman rankings. Yankees star Jazz Chisholm Jr. would drop a one-word reaction to the SS position ranking. Fortunately, the first baseman rankings have not received much criticism from the fans and experts.
