After a slow start in the 2024 postseason, Freddie Freeman exploded in the World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers star took the load of the team’s offense on his shoulders and helped them win. In the offseason, Freeman has now undergone an ankle surgery.
Freeman suffered a sprain in his right ankle in September. He was expected to be out for four to six weeks due to this injury. Despite that, he soldiered on in the postseason.
Freeman went on to hit four home runs in four consecutive games of the 2024 World Series. One of these was an iconic walk-off grand slam against Nestor Cortes in Game 1. Freeman also became the first batter to homer in six successive World Series games (a run stretching back to Games 5 and 6 with the Atlanta Braves in 2021).
After the triumph, it was revealed that he was battling another major injury. The 8-time All-Star had broken his ribcage during a practice session. However, he kept on playing with this issue as well.
The Dodgers on Thursday announced that he had undergone surgery on his ankle. He is expected to be back in action by Spring Training next year.
Earlier today, Dodger first baseman Freddie Freeman underwent surgery on his right ankle consisting of debridement and the removal of loose bodies. The surgery was performed by Dr. Kenneth Jung at Kerlan Jobe in Los Angeles. Freeman is expected to be able to participate in baseball activities during Spring Training.
