All eyes fell on Dani Olmo as FC Barcelona failed to complete the registration process for him as well as Pau Victor. The Spanish giant has faced a difficult time approving the registration process for both players from La Liga. Now, they run the risk of Olmo leaving the club as a free agent.

This possibility assumed importance as there exists a clause in the 26-year-old’s contract, which allows him to do so. It was expected of the club to resolve the issue by 31st December, but reports suggest otherwise.

As things stand, Olmo can now look for a new club and listen to offers from teams of his choice. Club representatives from Barcelona have informed that the team is working towards a resolution by January 3rd.

Even though Barcelona attempted to legalize Olmo’s registration with a €100 million deal with a Qatari form to operate the VIP boxes at Camp Nou, approval from La Liga is still pending. The club has now approached the Spanish Football Federation to request new licenses for both Olmo and Pau Victor. Even though there is much uncertainty regarding the issue, fans expect a resolution by January 3rd.

The 26-year-old’s agent, Andy Bara, told the press that his client has no plans to jump ship. Olmo signed for Barca ahead of the 2024/25 season from RB Leipzig for a fee of €62 million.

The decision made by Dani is to stay at Barcelona as he wants to play for them. We are not considering any other option.

There are also reports that the club will have to pay Olmo his salary till 2030 and Leipzig €48 million if the club fails to register him.

As things stand, Barcelona is 3rd in La Liga behind Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. In the Champions League, Barca is breathing down Liverpool’s neck with just a three-point lead separating the two.

Olmo has been a trusted player for the club this season, scoring five goals in La Liga and a goal and an assist in Europe. Despite Olmo’s impressive numbers, his lack of fitness has proven to be a problem for including him in long-term plans.
