Defending Australian Open champion and 4th-seed Sofia Kenin will look to advance to her maiden quarterfinal at Roland Garros when she takes on home favourite Fiona Ferro in the fourth round at the French Open 2020. Ferro has already achieved her career’s best result and she can go a step further to make it to the last-eight at any Grand Slam for the very first time.

Talking about the performance in the tournament so far, after having an easy outing in the first round, Ferro did the unthinkable by stunning 14th-seed Elina Rybakina in the next round. In the Round of 32 though, the 23-year old Frenchwoman had to dig deep to get past Patricia Maria Tig 7-6, 4-6, 6-0.
On the other hand, after struggling in the first two rounds with both the matches going to the distance, Kenin made a solid comeback in the third round. The 21-year old American literally demolished Irina Bara in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 to make it to the Round of 16.

Prior to their meeting in the French capital, both the women have faced each other only once. It was way back in 2017 in Charleston, when Kenin sailed past Ferro 7-5, 6-2 in the Round of 16. So the American leads the head-to-head record 1-0.

Kenin should fancy her chances of winning this contest. Having said that, Ferro can give her a tough time on the court. Nevertheless, Kenin has find her mojo back and it would be a surprise if the American fails to capitalise on this opportunity.
