Rafael Nadal wins on Day 2 as he cruises to the Round 2 of the French Open 2020. The likes of Alexander Bublik, Dominic Thiem were also winners of their respective Round 1 matches, however, Felix Auger Aliassime and Italian Fabio Fognini lost out early. The unfortunate exit was for Frances Tiafoe.
Rafa wins impressively
Rafael Nadal is the King of Clay. His round one tie was up against Egor Gerasimov and World No.2 prevailed in straight sets. Rafa won 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 as he is en route to the 13th title at French Open. He spoke of the slam highly after the match at Philip Chartier.
Frances Tiafoe crashes in 5 sets
Frances Tiafoe lost to Jan-Lennard Struff. It was a phenomenal match as Struff won 3-6, 7-6, 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. Tiafoe lost the five-setter and congratulated Struff at the net. He then returned to his chair & smashed a racket.
Thiem beats experienced Cilic
Dominic Theim‘s Round 1 could have been tricky up against Marin Cilic. But the Austrian handled the match well and sealed a victory in straight sets 6-4 6-3 6-3. Thiem is one of the favourites after winning the US Open title this year.
Bublik beats Gael Monfils
Gael Monfils is seen striding all across the court. Unfortunately, he had a tough round against the uprising Alexander Bublik. The uprising next-gen star endured a tough battle to beat the local. Bublik won 6-4, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
Fabio Fognini loses unexpectedly
Fabio Foginini is one of the best players on clay. Hailing from Itlay, the player’s loss was a shock. He lost 7-5 3-6 7-6 (7-1) 6-0 to Kazakh, Mikhail Kukushkin. The player was recently in news for his new book and with ample experience at hand, he was to win easily against Kukushkin.
