Two-time Grand Slam champion and No.1-seed and former French Open champion Simona Halep will look to continue her surge at the French Open 2020 when she takes on 25th-seed Amanda Anisimova in a Round of 32 encounter. Both the players so far have been ruthless in their approach and are yet to lose a set, which makes the contest even more exciting.

Talking about the performance in the tournament so far, Halep has looked good and ready to lift her third Major. The 29-year old Romanian first crushed Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-4, 6-0 in the opening round and then sailed past compatriot Irina-Camelia Begu in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in the next round.
Similarly, Anisimova did not even give an inch to her opponents in the first two rounds. The 19-year old American first bamboozled Tamara Korpatsch 6-2, 6-0 in the Round of 128 and then demolished compatriot Bernarda Pera with an identical scoreline 6-2, 6-0 in the next round. All in all, the World No.29 has lost just four games in her first two matches.

The two women have faced each other only once prior to their meeting at Roland Garros. That match happened at the same place a year back, when Anisimova stunned then 3rd-seed Halep 6-2, 6-4 to reach the semifinals at the French Open 2019. So the American leads the head-to-head record 1-0.

Last year, Anisimova managed to triumph Halep. However, this time around, the Romanian is in prolific form and looks all set to avenge her defeat and tie the head-to-head record at one-a-piece. Having said that, expect it to be an encounter that goes down to the wire and Halep winning it by the barest of the margins.
