The third-round faceoff at Roland Garros would just be the second ever time Gauff and Yastremska have opposed one another on the tour.

The two played against each other for the first time just a month ago in Madrid, where Coco Gauff called the shots. Despite a valiant effort, Yastremska went down in straight sets, 4-6, 1-6, in that match.

Yastremska is seeded 30 and Gauff is seeded 3 at Roland Garros, giving Gauff a big advantage on paper. However, many seeds have fallen to lower-ranked players already in the tournament, and even the favorite, Iga Swiatek had to save match points against Naomi Osaka to scrape through.
