Iga Swiatek vs. Aryna Sabalenka: Match Preview
Aryna Sabalenka has reached six finals this season, winning three. Those three wins came at the Brisbane International, Miami Open, and Madrid Open. It was her third title in the Spanish capital as well as her career’s third clay-court title.

On the clay swing, Sabalenka progressed to the final of the Stuttgart Open (lost to Jelena Ostapenko) and Madrid Open. The Belarusian has never made it to the final in Paris.
She reached the semifinal for the second time, following the 2023 season, where her campaign was ended by eventual runner-up Karolina Muchova. Last year in the tournament, Mirra Andreeva knocked her out in the quarterfinals.
The 27-year-old hasn’t yet dropped a set in the ongoing event, and only a set extended into a tie-break (against Zheng). She also went past one of her most challenging opponents, Amanda Anisimova, in the fourth round.
Iga Swiatek, on the other hand, is playing in the tournament as the three-time defending champion. But she hasn’t yet reached a final since winning her fourth Roland Garros title last year.
Swiatek also arrived in the French Open without a title under her belt for the first time since 2020. Before the clay-court Major, she progressed to the quarterfinals of every tournament she played, except the Italian Open where Danielle Collins ended her run in the third round.
She dominated her first three opponents before dropping the first set against her fourth-round opponent Elena Rybakina. The 24-year-old somehow forced a comeback to push the match into the decider, before winning it.
Swiatek has now reached seven Grand Slam semifinals. The only Major where she hasn’t yet progressed to the last eight is Wimbledon (reached the quarterfinals in 2023). Swiatek lifted the most titles last year (five), which included her third consecutive Roland Garros trophy. Apart from this, the four-time French Open champion also took home the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.
Iga Swiatek vs. Aryna Sabalenka: Match Prediction
Swiatek has met Sabalenka six times on clay, winning five of those matches. They also met twice on the surface last year, in the finals of the Madrid Open and Italian Open, both of which the five-time Grand Slam champion won.

Apart from Madrid and Rome, the rivals also squared off in the semifinal of last year’s Cincinnati Open which the three-time Grand Slam singles champion won before taking home the title. The upcoming match will be their first meeting this season.
Even though Sabalenka trails 4-8 in the head-to-head record against Swiatek, she will enter the match as the favorite to win. The reason is Swiatek’s inconsistent performances this season.
Match prediction: Aryna Sabalenka to win in three sets.
