Iga Swiatek has gotten herself into the fourth round at Roland Garros for a fourth consecutive time after taking out Marie Bouzkova in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. She now has to play Anastasia Potapova for a slot in the last sixteen.
Swiatekโs third-round win on Friday was a birthday present she gifted herself, as she celebrated her 23rd birthday on court. The French crowd, whom Swiatek had politely criticized for being too loud after her nail-biting match against Naomi Osaka, were in full support of her today.ย

The Pole was surprised with a birthday song by the fans right after her win during the on-court interview, with even the interviewer singing along. She covered her face with embarrassment, as she had not expected to receive this treatment after openly criticizing the tournamentโs crowd.
Iga Swiatek inches closer to a three-peat while she likens Rafael Nadal with a birthday celebration at Roland Garros
Iga Swiatek has always idolized Rafael Nadal and also developed an aggressive yet consistent game, similar to his, which evidently works wonders on clay courts. She is the two-time defending champion in Roland Garros and looks unstoppable at the moment despite the scare Osaka gave her in the second round.ย

She is dominating the Parisian clay just like her idol did for 20 years. Nadal has been hailed by fans as โThe King of Clayโ and this has now entered the WTA space with many calling Swiatek โThe Queen of Clayโ, something that she humbly denies being.
Swiatek enters the second week of the tournament and is inching closer to her goal of winning three consecutive French Open titles, following in Rafaโs footsteps.
There seems to be another similarity between the two, as they have birthdays that are just four days apart, which they have to celebrate in the city of love almost every year. During his reign in Paris, Nadal always celebrated his birthdays at Roland Garros and Iga Swiatek is doing that now too.
