World No.4 Daniil Medvedev scored the biggest victory of his career at the Nitto ATP Finals 2020. The Russian lifted the title after defeating the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem, last of whom he vanquished in the finale 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-4.

Moreover, with his win over Thiem, the 24-year-old extended his string of wins to 10. This falls in stark contrast with his season before November, as he did not beat a single Top-10 player from November 2019 to October 2020. At this moment, he’s won 7 matches in a row against the world’s Top-10 players.

Daniil was a set down and an inch away from defeat when he turned this final around on its head. He overcame Thiem, and fired bazookas from his racquet whilst showing an incredible craft at the net to get himself in a favourable position.

Medvedev became the first player in history to beat the World No.1, 2 and 3, i.e, Djokovic, Nadal and Thiem in the same ATP Finals. As a result, audiences were blown away by his comeback victory and applauded him for the display of skills in his topsy-turvy journey. The Russian altered his tactics according to the pickle that he was in, and impressed the masses by doing so.

In addition, after an incredible end to the season of 2020, Medvedev will look to assert himself right from the onset of the next one. Further, he made a comeback not only against Thiem, but also in the results he was producing. Similarly, the Russian did a 180 to lift 2 consecutive titles this month. Hence, Daniil will be one to watch out for at the Australian Open 2021.
