Davante Adams’ misery continues with another day of the Las Vegas Raiders failing to make any impact. Before heading into the break, the Raiders trailed the 0-2 Carolina Panthers 7-21.

According to USA Today Sports, Antonio Pierce’s men were -5.5 points favorites over the Panthers. Yet, they started poorly against new quarterback Andy Dalton, who replaced Bryce Young in the starting lineup and wreaked havoc.

As Davante Adams looked on, Dalton completed 15 of 22 passes for 212 yards and three touchdowns. On the other hand, the veteran all-pro wide receiver only caught the ball twice in two quarters, but he also dropped 3 passes.

After the referee blew the halftime whistle, the CBS Sports camera panned toward the Raiders dugout, where Adams sat with utter frustration on his face.

Football fans take ironic jabs at Davante Adams

The 31-year-old Adams went into the game with a total of 14 catches from 18 targets in his first couple of games (Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers) for 169 yards and 1 touchdown. Fantasy pundits predicted Adams to at least receive 5 catches before the break, but they were proven wrong.

Dalton, taking charge after a dramatic week, spilled water over every expectation. The Raiders needed to claw their way back, as they became the first team since the Atlanta Falcons in December 2023 to lose to the Panthers.

Davante Adams’ frustration dates back a year when Josh McDaniels was still calling shots as the head coach. The Raiders found it difficult to win games with the 6x Pro Bowler publicly showing his emotions by smashing his helmet.

Sideline cameras even picked up Adams mumbling that he had never been hit so many times by corners and safeties in his NFL career until he joined the Raiders. He did go from receiving passes from future first-ballot Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers to Jimmy Garoppolo, Aiden O’Connell, and now Gardner Minshew.

There was ample chatter in the off-season about a reunion of Rodgers and Adams, but the former second-round pick downplayed all the talk, committing his immediate future to the Vegas franchise. Fast forward to the new season; the Raiders may have a different coaching staff, but the results indicate they are still stuck in the old ways.
