World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has a history of feuds with tournament organizers and officials. His Round of 16 match on Monday against Francisco Cerundolo added another chapter to his controversies with the officials.

In the fifth set of his 4th round match, Djokovic slipped on the court while chasing Cerundolo’s forehand. Thankfully for Nole fans, he didn’t injure himself. However, the Serbinator was far from impressed with the French organizers for making him play in such conditions.

Great job. You know better than us. It’s not slippery at all. Not dangerous at all. Well done supervisor and everyone. Ground staff, well done.

According to Djokovic, the conditions were humid and dangerous to play on. The three-time Roland Garros champion was already struggling physically in the match, having taken a medical timeout in the second set due to discomfort in his knee.

Nevertheless, this scenario didn’t become much of a talking point regarding the context of the match as the 24-time Grand Slam champion marched into the quarter-finals. He won his 370th Grand Slam match, eclipsing Roger Federer’s record for the most match wins in Grand Slam tournaments.

Defending champion Novak Djokovic came back from two sets to one down for the second match in a row to defeat Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo 6-1, 5-7, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. The Belgrade native will face either Casper Ruud in the last eight.

It was looking good for the World No. 1 when he put on a masterclass in the first set, winning 6-1. However, Cerundolo capitalized on Djokovic’s limited movement in the second set. The Serbian took a medical time-out after the third game of the second set as he felt something in his knee.

The 23rd seed looked to have all the momentum when he clinched the third set 6-3. However, just like his previous match against Lorenzo Musetti, Djokovic showed why he sits on top of the world rankings.

The Serbian was 2-4 down in the fourth set but managed to win five of the last six games to make it two sets all. Djokovic finally broke in the eighth game of the final set to push ahead in the scoreline before serving it out comfortably.
