Ever since the New York Jets took the bold decision to fire head coach Robert Saleh, a conversation has stricken as pundits wondered whether he was the main issue behind the team’s underwhelming performance this season, sitting at 2-3. While the team prepares for the upcoming matchup against the Buffalo Bills, sports analyst Ryan Clark accused Aaron Rodgers of “catfishing.”
Given, the level of influence the veteran quarterback has within the organization, he has been largely blamed for getting Saleh fired. In the latest edition of ESPN’s Get Up, former NFL star safety launched a verbal attack on Rodgers for not living up to the expectations set for him when the Jets acquired him from the Green Bay Packers.
Highlighting the veteran quarterback’s outing this season, Clark claimed that he “catfished” the Green Gang of being at the level of legends like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, when in reality his prime days are way behind him.
That Aaron Rodgers that we thought we knew was in a fantasy land and a figment of our imagination. The Aaron Rodgers that we mention in the names of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning was a catfish. Aaron Rodgers has every physical tool to have been the greatest quarterback to have played this game. There is something that he is missing in his intangible DNA that makes him devoid of great leadership and makes him devoid of being able to elevate locker rooms. That’s what we’re seeing in New York.
Ryan Clark said
Rodgers was spared from the criticism last season after suffering a season-ending torn ACL injury but despite spending the entire last season in recovery along with the offseason, his performance has hardly improved.
Aaron Rodgers faces criticism following Robert Saleh’s departure
With Saleh’s departure, the focus has shifted squarely onto the players, particularly quarterback Rodgers. Since he’s blamed for the head coach’s firing, the four-time NFL MVP needs to turn things around in week 6’s game, otherwise, fans will likely demand his exit from the Jets.

Meanwhile, the veteran quarterback has denied his involvement and attempted to put a blanket on his tense relationship with the former head coach. He called the allegations “ridiculous,” claiming that he has a good relationship with Saleh and he loves him.
Owner Woody Johnson has also denied the ten-time Pro Bowler’s involvement in the decision-making, saying he wasn’t consulted with it. However, outside the premises of New York, the NFL world is heavily convinced that Rodgers is behind the decision while criticizing their decision to fire Saleh.
