Future Manchester City starlet Cavan Sullivan shattered records by becoming the youngest player to feature for a senior Major League Soccer side. He made his debut for the MLS club Philadelphia Union in a match against New England.
The young American midfielder, who is expected to join Premier League champions Manchester City, was an 85th-minute substitute, last night. Cavan Sullivan featured in a 5-1 win over New England at Subaru Park, Pennsylvania. At 14 years and 293 days old, he broke Freddy Adu‘s record. Adu was 14 years and 306 days old when he played for DC United in 2004. Sullivan also set the record for being the youngest player to feature in US team sports history.
The young American midfielder had signed the largest homegrown contract in MLS history, making him one of the youngest players to sign a first-team contract. He will move to City when he turns 18, in 2028, or to any other City-group club including Girona, Palermo or Troyes.
Philadelphia manager Jim Curtin praised Sullivan before his debut, referring to him as a ‘generational talent.’ Freddy Adu also took to social media to congratulate the player.

Manchester City could try to sign Euro 2024 star in case they miss out on Bruno Guimaraes
Manchester City are in the market for a new midfielder to pair alongside Rodri in the upcoming season. Despite being linked to Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, they could also target PSG star Fabian Ruiz, owing to his impressive Euro 2024 display.
Brazilian midfielder Guimaraes’ £100 million price-tag could be a significant obstacle. The deal might only happen if Kevin De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva leaves. Meanwhile, Ruiz is an ideal fit for Manchester City’s needs, and his partnership with Rodri for Spain has also been crucial.
The PSG star recently had an outstanding Euro campaign, winning the competition and being named to the Team of the Tournament. If brought to Manchester, Ruiz could replicate a similarly remarkable partnership.
