Arsenal and Arteta step up plans for Defensive reinforcements

Mikel Arteta is looking to sign defensive reinforcements in order to bolster Gunners’ squad for the upcoming season. The first name on Arteta’s wish list is the Brazilian Gabriel Magalhaes. Gabriel has been a top name in the market with clubs such as Manchester United and Napoli also linked with him. However, Napoli’s inability to offload Koulibaly leaves them out of the race.

Arteta also has backups planned in case Magalhaes deal fails to go through. Malang Sarr of Nice is reportedly Arsenal’s backup option. The French youngster is a free agent after leaving Nice.

Another name on Arsenal list is Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano. Although, Arsenal will face tough competition for him from Real Madrid. Upamecano’ s stock has grown up since his recent performance against Atletico Madrid. However, the Frenchman is not keen to leave Leipzig right now which makes it difficult.

Whether any of the reported signings go through or not, Arsenal and Arteta will have at least one youngster at his disposal. William Saliba who was signed from St. Etienne last year and loaned back, will come back to Emirates.
