Fans lauded Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes for his brilliant performance against Tottenham, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win. The North London derby win marked the club’s third victory of the season, taking them to ten points from four matches. 

The Gunners stepped into the North London derby with a major deficit. Skipper Martin Odegaard was ruled out due to an injury that he sustained during the international break, while Declan Rice remained suspended. This left manager Mikel Arteta with very few options in the midfield. Despite these troubles, Arsenal cruised to a brilliant 1-0 victory over their city rivals, moving to the second position on the EPL table. They are just a point behind league leaders and reigning champions, Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Brazilian center-back Gabriel Magalhaes scored through a brilliant header in the 68th minute of the match. Tottenham, despite being bold and aggressive, lost out to a much calm and composed Arsenal side, who performed brilliantly in defense. Gabriel had a Man of the Match outing, as he was helped by a corner from Bukayo Saka to score the winning goal. Apart from that, the 26-year-old defender forged a impeccable partnership with William Saliba to deny the Spurs forwards from scoring.

Moreover, this marked Tottenham’s fourth straight debacle in defeating their arch-rivals, after having failed to do so over the past two seasons. Arsenal, on the other hand, registered their third win against the Spurs since 2022.

Arsenal supporters took to social media to praise defender Gabriel Magalhaes for his impressive performance against Tottenham, in a major 1-0 win, which the forward did through the brilliant assist from forward Bukayo Saka.

Fans shared their reactions on X, with some labeling him as a ‘rock’. A few others termed the Brazilian defender as a goal-scoring machine. Another fan claimed that Arsenal have become masters at scoring goals from set-pieces, with Magalhaes being identified as a strength. However, rival Chelsea fans hilariously commented that despite Arsenal’s win, London would remain Blue.

Meanwhile, Tottenham dropped down to the 13th position on the EPL table, making just four points out of four matches. They recorded just a single win, a draw and two losses since the start of the season, putting manager Ange Postecoglou’s position in danger.
