Tennis star Gael Monfils on Saturday announced the birth of his first child with WTA player Elina Svitolina. Frenchman Monfils took to Twitter to reveal the news.
“I had the most amazing night of my life, which ended with the most beautiful gift around 6:00Am. Elina was strong and brave,” he posted.
The baby’s name is already revealed by the couple as SKAI. “I can t thx enough my wife and God for this special moment. Welcome to the world my little princess SKAÏ (sic).” Monfils said in the same post on the micro-blogging website.

“Not easy to see my wife crying everyday,” Gael Monfils once said
Monfils recently spoke about the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and how it has deeply affected his wife, Elina Svitolina, who herself is a Ukrainian. Svitolina has time and again taken a very bold stand on the situation. Monfils revealed how tough the time is for his extended family. He said that things aren’t easy as he sees his wife crying every night.
“It’s not easy to see all my, I don’t know in English, stepfamily. Yeah. I mean, my second family, let’s say, battling. It’s not easy to see my wife a couple of weeks ago crying every night. It was tough. You know, it was tough. Of course, I was, and I’m being there for her every day, for her, for the family,” he said.
“Still quite a lot of family still there. It’s tough to describe because I’m in it. And it’s just kind of crazy, you know when you think about it. But we try to manage it the best way that we can. And definitely for myself, you know, I try to be the shoulder, to be everything that she can lean on, and definitely to my second family, you know, I do anything for them to make them happy, safe, and everything that I can do,” Monfils added.
Due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the tennis world was also impacted this season with Wimbledon banning Russian and Belarusian players from competing and the ATP and WTA following up the announcement by stripping the Grand Slam at the All England Lawn Tennis Club of all ranking points for 2022.
