‘Gaethje can go fight whoever, but I want the winner of Conor and Poirier’ says, Charles Oliveira
Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira produced a major upset in the UFC 256 co-main event by defeating Tony Ferguson. Ferguson was the hot favorite in this fight and Oliveira was an underdog but ‘Do Bronx’ produced one of the best performances of his carrier and completely dominated Ferguson.
He showed excellent ground game and Tony seems to have no answer for it. At the end of three rounds, Oliveira won the fight by the unanimous decision of the judges. With this win ‘Do Bronx’ made a strong case for the title shot of the Lightweight division.
In the post-match presentation, Oliveira says, “He’s a really tough guy, I even told my coach after that first round that I thought I had broken his arm. But I wanted to win. We had a game plan set and I wanted to go in there and win at any cost.”
Oliveira still believes that Khabib isn’t coming back and he added, “Khabib swore on his father’s grave that he wasn’t going to come back, when a man does that, I don’t think he’s going to come back. Gaethje can go fight whoever.”
“But I want the winner of Conor and Poirier. I have eight wins in a row. Seven of those, I finished the fight. I don’t let it go to the judges’ hands. I finish fights. I’m in the position to be fighting for the belt.”
Oliveira believes that he should fight for the title next
With a win against Tony Ferguson, ‘Do Bronx’ shut the mouths of all the people who doubts his capabilities and now he wants nothing else than a title shot. Oliveira says, “I don’t really think there is a preference, I want to fight for the belt”
“That’s been my dream and my team’s dream. Obviously fighting Conor involves a lot of other things. It’s a lot of money and a lot of other things that may be a fight with Dustin wouldn’t involve but we really want to win the belt. It really doesn’t make a difference.”
