College baseball star Gage Wood created history on Monday by throwing the 3rd no-hitter in Men’s College World Series (MCWS) history. His impressive performance even left Kansas City Chiefs’ star Patrick Mahomes stunned.

On Monday, the Arkansas Razorbacks took on Murray State in an elimination game. With his team’s season on the line, Wood took the responsibility on his shoulders.

The right-handed pitcher threw a total of 119 pitches and did not issue a single walk or hit. He notched up a career-high 19 strikeouts in this game and completely dominated the opposition batter. The only thing that did not go in his way in this game was a perfect game. Wood would hit an opposition batter in the 8th inning, which ended his quest for a perfecto.

His no-no in this game was 3rd one ever thrown in MCWS history and the first since 1960. Before him, the only pitchers to have thrown a no-hitter in MCWS history were Jim Ehrler of Texas in 1950 and Jim Wixson of Oklahoma State in 1960.

Wood’s performance from this game left social media stunned. Several users congratulated the young pitcher for this.

Patrick Mahomes, the NFL quarterback, also seemed to have been blown away with this performance. The 3-time Super Bowl champion would take to his X account to celebrate this feet of Wood. He would use three shocked face emojis to make his feelings known.

Mahomes is well-versed in baseball. The 29-year-old played baseball, football, and basketball in college and was selected by the Detroit Tigers. However, he did not sign a contract with the American League Central team and instead opted to focus on football.

Devers had signed a massive 10-year, $313.5 million contract extension with the Red Sox in 2023. He was currently in the 2nd year of this deal. In exchange for him, the team received Jordan HicksKyle HarrisonJose Bello and James Tibbs III.

Speaking of Wood, he is the No.50 overall in MLB Pipeline‘s draft prospect for 2025. With this performance, he has surely attracted a lot of interest. Before he eventually gets picked up by an MLB team, his college team has another elimination game on Tuesday against the loser of the UCLA-LSU clash.
