In the world of tennis, one debate that has been capturing everyone’s attention in recent years is about the Big 3 (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic). The latest opinion on this debate comes from the recently retired Spanish tennis player, Garbine Muguruza.

The tennis lovers have been fortunate to witness all three playing at their peak simultaneously. However, ranking the best among the three has divided opinions. The former World No. 1 Muguruza spoke on Spanish radio El Larguero.

I am pro-Federer and pro-Nadal to death. But in terms of tennis quality, the best is Novak Djokovic. He is a tennis beast. I also find him very funny. I've spoken to him several times off the court and he's super nice, I had a good time. On the court, it's true that he has this Serbian personality, from the East. I like all three of them.
Garbine Muguruza said on Spanish radio El Larguero

Muguruza herself enjoyed a fantastic tennis career, winning two Grand Slam titles (French Open 2016 and Wimbledon 2017). She shared the podium at the closing ceremony of the Wimbledon 2017 championships with Federer, who won his eighth Wimbledon title that year.

After reaching the semi-finals of the US Open later that year, she became World No. 1 for the first time in her career. With Nadal also at the top of the men’s rankings, Spain became the first country since the United States 14 years ago to hold the top spots in both the ATP and WTA rankings simultaneously.

Big 4’s dominance at Wimbledon will be missed this year

If there is one particular tournament in which the Big 4 (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray) have shown dominance, it has to be Wimbledon. The most prestigious tournament in tennis has seen many great champions hold the Golden trophy, and these four icons were no different.

Since 2003, the tournament was shared between the Big 4 until 2023, when Carlos Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in five sets to win his second Grand Slam and first at the All-England Club. Federer started the dominance by winning five on the bounce, equaling Bjorn Borg‘s record.

However, Nadal stopped the Swiss Maestro in 2008, winning a memorable five-set encounter to claim his first title. Earlier this month, Federer was seen at Dartmouth College giving a fabulous speech to the graduates, where he mentioned this defeat as one of the biggest of his career.

‘Fedal’ continued to trade Wimbledon titles until 2011, when Djokovic stepped up to claim his first title, beating Nadal in four sets. Federer reclaimed the crown in 2012, winning his seventh Wimbledon title. History was made a year later when Murray ended a 77-year wait for a British Wimbledon champion by defeating Djokovic in straight sets.

Djokovic won consecutive Wimbledon titles in 2014 and 2015 before Murray reclaimed the crown in 2016. Federer won the last of his eight Wimbledon titles in 2017 before Djokovic went on an unbeatable run until 2023, winning four in a row and securing seven Wimbledon titles.

In case you missed it!
