‘Upset’ Garrett Wilson calls out Jets’ inability to hold a lead after overtime debacle in Miami
Garrett Wilson believes the Jets have developed a habit of blowing games, like the one against the Dolphins, despite leading their opponents.

Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams both lodged 100-yard games. Aaron Rodgers threw over 300 yards for the first time in a New York Jets jersey, but they failed to stop the game from going into overtime. It meant whoever between the Jets and Miami Dolphins scored a touchdown first would win the game.
The Dolphins quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, found tight end Jonnu Smith inside the Jets end zone to score from ten yards. Even after leading two-thirds of the game, the Jets blew it in OT. It finished 26-32 for the Dolphins, ending any hopes of a late wild card run for the Gang Green.
During the post-game presser, The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt asked Wilson about the Jets blowing another fourth-quarter lead.
[It’s] like a gene or some s**t. It’s not like we’re going out there and getting our butt beat from start to finish. No, we have a chance to win the game. We’re supposed to win the game; the odds are in our favor and we find a way to lose. So, it’s just frustrating for sure.
Garrett Wilson said
“Losing period sucks. When you’re up in the 4th quarter all of a sudden it starts to feel like we have a losing problem, like a gene or some s–t."

Aaron Rodgers gave a similar response as Wilson when asked the same question.
Everybody has some skin on that. We had our opportunities on offense. We had to get to 30 and we didn’t do it.

Garrett Wilson’s feelings on Jets missing the playoffs again
The Jets lost nine games before playing the Dolphins. Even though their exit was a foregone conclusion, they were still mathematically in the mix for a playoff spot. However, the defeat in Miami guaranteed their exit and also added an unwanted record beside their column in the history books.
The Jets currently hold the longest-running playoff drought in the NFL of 14 straight years without playing ball beyond January.

The reporters reminded Wilson about the Jets’ playoff record, which depressed the young receiver further.
Yeah, I don’t feel good man. I don’t feel good about it.

Wilson finished the Miami game with 7 catches for 114 yards and zero touchdowns. In 2024, he has 81 receptions for 877 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Rodgers elaborated more on the Jets’ 3-10 record after fourteen weeks of football.
Yeah the expectations were high, and we didn’t reach them. Not anywhere close. We just didn’t figure out how to win enough games, I didn’t play good enough in crunch times, that’s why we’re sitting here with the record we’ve got.

The veteran quarterback has started all the games for the Jets this year. He threw for 2966 yards from 289 completions, 20 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Rodgers has ambition to stay in New York beyond the 2024 season, but the decision rests with the front office.
