The New York Jets finally won a game after five consecutive defeats. Those losses still could define their playoff hopes. However, the highlight play when Garrett Wilson invoked some Odell Beckham Jr. magic could positively impact the Aaron Rodgers-led offense.
The play in question saw the third-year receiver leap into the air and grab the ball with one hand while contorting his leg to touch the turf not once, but twice, to seal the touchdown. The play threw football folks gasping for breath and the internet was rife with comparisons with that of Beckham Jr.’s.
The star wideout knows that folks are debating if his catch was better than Odell Beckham Jr.’s. So, when reporters asked him the obvious question, Garrett Wilson had this to say about his own moment of brilliance.
Another reporter chimed in to say that Beckham Jr. and the New York Giants ended up losing that game to the Dallas Cowboys, suggesting that Wilson’s catch actually impacted his team positively as they won against the Texans.

The Jets superstar acknowledged that the win was more important to him and his teammates. He knows all too well all the highlight catches are worthless if the New York Jets do not make the playoffs if not the Super Bowl.
New York Jets’ offense and defense catching fire at right time could swing momentum
Prior to this game, the New York Jets set a record that nobody else did in NFL history. That embarrassment was still hanging on their necks in the first half of the game against the Texans. But then, in the second half, the team switched gears.
Not the defense, as they played lights out throughout the game. They sacked CJ Stroud eight times and forced the Houston Texans to just one touchdown and a field goal from nine drives. Pretty impressive from a group that was oft-criticized after the departure of Robert Saleh.
But the offense clicking in the second half should excite fans. They were not doing that against a scrub defense, rather it was against one of the better pass-rushing teams in the league. Their secondary might not be as good as their front. But if the offensive line could keep Aaron Rodgers upright, he would throw out zingers similar to what he threw to Garrett Wilson.
Then Davante Adams opening his touchdown account will also help them going forward. As the way he was separating from defensive backs throughout the game, expect the Jets offense to start making plays. Fans of the franchise should be excited.
