Does the New York Jets have a ‘losing problem?’ Well, wide receiver Garrett Wilson certainly believes so as he expressed after this season’s collapse which marked the longest postseason drought ever experienced by a team in a major American professional sports league.
Wilson, who made his NFL debut in 2022, has established himself among the top wide receivers in the league. However, in all three of his campaigns in New York, he has yet to record a winning season. The Week 14 overtime loss against the Miami Dolphins marked their tenth loss of the season, dropping them to a humiliating 3-10 season record, despite all the efforts invested.
In the post-game press conference, the former Rookie of the Year spoke candidly about his team, saying that he would been utterly shocked if someone had told him in the training camp that the Green Gang would be at 3-10 and without any hopes to survive the season by Week 14. Recognizing that the Jets had a promising training camp, Wilson came to realize that “winning in training camp is winning in training camp.”
Garrett Wilson reflects on Jets’ 14-year postseason drought
The Jets entered the fourth quarter of the Sunday Night Football match with a solid 23-15 lead which they increased to 26-23 with a field goal. However, the victory wasn’t written in their name. They allowed a field goal as time expired and ultimately lost in the overtime.
The most disappointing thing for the fans, as well as players, has been that it was the sixth opportunity they had to secure victory in the fourth quarter, and they couldn’t utilize even one of them.
“Losing period sucks. When you’re up in the 4th quarter all of a sudden it starts to feel like we have a losing problem, like a gene or some s–t."

Despite putting together one of his most impressive performances of seven catches and a team-leading 114 yards, Wilson felt like a ‘loser’, asserting that the Jets need to “stop being losers.” Wilson now recorded ten losses over his three seasons with the team, leading fans to wonder whether he wants to remain in New York.
