Garrett Wilson has always looked forward to learning while playing alongside Davante Adams. Even before the All-Pro receiver’s trade became official, Wilson used to drop hints on social media, expressing his excitement.

On Monday, Adams officially joined the New York outfit, and Wilson reiterated his words.

It’s a great opportunity for me to learn a lot. Hopefully, we can get this thing rolling and start winning games.

Garrett Wilson said earlier this week

Yet at the same time, he is well aware that axiomatically, Adams became the #1 receiver when he stepped foot in the building. It means he will see less off the ball.

At the end of the day, if I lose a few targets, that’s fine. I got 22 the other day. It don’t take that many to get where I want to get.

Garrett Wilson added

It’s perfectly okay to thrive behind a proven top receiver—the easiest examples would be Devonta Smith and AJ Brown in Philadelphia and Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill in Miami.

The Jets had only just begun to settle down after the mega trade when ESPN’s Adam Schefter claimed that several teams made contact with the New York franchise, asking for Garrett Wilson’s services.

It’s understandable why teams would reach out to the Jets, who added talent at the wide receiver position in Adams. These teams also know Wilson eventually will be in line to land the type of lucrative contract that other wide receivers have signed in recent months, as the market at that position has exploded.

Will the Jets trade Garrett Wilson?

Despite the interests, Schefter also revealed that the Jets have no intention of trading Wilson.

[The trade is a] moot point for the time being, with New York planning to keep Wilson.

It is pointless to just let one of your prime assets walk away when he can be serviceable for years. Instead of Wilson, the Jets are listening to offers for Mike Williams, who after his crucial drop in the Bills game has had a slight fallout with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers called him out for the mistake, which turned into an interception in the loss. Williams, in a later interview, claimed he and Rodgers had a chat and acknowledged that he could have done better in that situation. The Jets sit with a 2-4 record after six weeks of football and take on the Steelers on Sunday.
