Lately, there have been a lot of speculations surrounding the potential trade of Garrett Wilson, as the New York Jets reportedly looked into the trade proposal for the star wide receiver. Many teams approached the Jets with interest in acquiring Wilson and Mike Williams, as Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported.

It happened after the team had acquired Davante Adams to the strong wide receiving squad with Wilson, Allen Lazard, and Williams. However, ahead of Sunday’s brutal 37-15 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Jets “are not planning to trade Wilson.”

In the post-game press conference, the 2022 AP Offensive Player of the Year was asked whether the ongoing trade rumors affected his performance on Sunday. However, Wilson quickly dismissed any such speculations, emphasizing his focus on the game rather than off-field distractions.

No, I wouldn’t say it weighed on me at all. I wasn’t thinking about it during the game.I’m not going to say that was the reason I played or nothing. I wasn’t thinking about it.

Garrett Wilson told the reporters

While the Jets have no plans on trading the star wide receiver, who has quickly made an impact on the team after being drafted in 2022; they are reportedly “trying to find a suitor” for Williams, who has caught 10 catches and 145 yards in last six weeks.

Garrett Wilson takes blame for his disastrous performance against Steelers

Wilson recorded his worst career game on Sunday against the Steelers, as he stumbled at 5 receptions and 61 yards. He also caused two interceptions that resulted in touchdowns for the opponents. As he addressed the media in the post-game press conference, he didn’t hesitate in taking the blame for the loss, admitting playing like “s**t.”

That was the reason we lost the game at the end of the day. That s**t can’t happen. Can’t happen. Terrible plays. I’ve got to catch a damn ball. I’m playing like s**t right now and I’ve got to fix it.

Following this defeat, the Jets are now on a four-game losing streak and their second consecutive loss since the departure of head coach Robert Saleh. Sitting at 2-5, they are hoping to break their losing streak against the New England Patriots, 1-6, in Week 8 which might help them find the offensive rhythm they urgently require.
