Some shocking news has come out of Pakistan cricket. White-ball head coach Gary Kirsten has resigned from his post today on October 28, 2024. PCB had signed him to a two-year contract in April 2024. However, the 2011 World Cup-winning coach has resigned suddenly from his post.
Kirsten has resigned from his duties just a week before the white ball series against Australia starts. The Men in Green will tour Australia for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series before heading to Zimbabwe.
PCB has accepted the resignation of the South African, which clearly displays that there was a rift between the two parties. Also, PCB have made sure that Jason Gillespie, the red ball coach of Pakistan, chips in as the head coach of the side for the white ball tour of Australia.
The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced Jason Gillespie will coach the Pakistan men’s cricket team on next month’s white-ball tour of Australia after Gary Kirsten submitted his resignation, which was accepted.
Pakistan Cricket Board said in an official statement
The report says that there was a supposed rift between Kirsten and PCB when the Pakistan board handed over the powers of the total selection process to the newly appointed selection committee. Kirsten was not pleased with the decision and hence left his post.
Pakistan have won the Test series at home against England
There was a breath of fresh air for Pakistan cricket after the side defeated England in the three-match Test series at home. The team lost the first Test in Multan, and that is where the revolution kicked in. A new selection committee was appointed, and they instantly made some harsh decisions.

Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Sarfaraz Ahmed were dropped from the final two Test matches, and Pakistan decided to play on spin friendly wickets. They also fielded a spin-dominant bowling attack, with Sajid Khan and Noman Ali leading the line.
The duo spun a web around the English batters and did the unthinkable. The Rawalpindi Test win has given Pakistan their first home series victory since January 2021. So, it became a historical feat for the long-struggling Pakistani side.
