Manchester United registered a comeback victory against Tottenham Hotspur at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday. The team was trailing at the end of the first half but made a comeback in the second half to win the game by 3-1. Fred, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood found themselves on the scorecard. After the victory, Gary Neville, former Manchester United defender had something nice to say before confessed to the 34-year-old striker.
What did Gary Neville confess on Sky Sports?
After the victory against Gary Neville honestly confessed what he had thought when Manchester United Edinson Cavani. The Champions League-winning right-back mentioned that he had feared that Cavani might turn out to be a Falcao or Alexis Sanchez. However, the Uruguayan international has justified the legendary No.7 and Gary Neville wants the club to extend his contract by a year so that the youngsters can learn from him.
Talking to Sky Sports, Gary Neville said:
He’s been a really brilliant example. I was a little bit nervous of him coming in, because of Falcao, Alexis Sanchez, showcase signings. This one has been different. He’s really applied himself brilliantly and has been a big help to Manchester United.
Manchester United signed Edinson Cavani on a free contract in the previous summer transfer window. The player has lived up to the reputation in England despite being on the wrong side of the 30s. The player 9 G/A in 11 starts in the English top-tier football. The player has a one-year contract with the club with an option to extend it for one more year. However, both parties are yet to sit and decide on the future of the player. According to recent reports, the player might be on his way to South America at the end of the ongoing season.
Gary Neville believes that players like Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford can learn more from the talismanic striker. The teenager has learned a lot from the player including the movements. Definitely, the club might extend the contract at the end of the season which is financially viable for the Old Trafford-based outfit amidst the pandemic.
