Geoff ‘Handz of Steel’ Neal aiming for a title shot once he finishes Stephen Thompson

Geoff Neal is slowly becoming a household name in the welterweight division. He is currently ranked number 11 in the welterweight rankings and is scheduled to face Stephen Thompson on December 19, 2020 at UFC FIGHT NIGHT 186. The ‘Karate Instructor’, Stephen Thompson is ranked number 5 in the welterweight rankings and hence, this fight will definitely test the mettle of the Texan who is being matched with a very strong opponent for probably the first time in his career.
Speaking ahead of his fight in an interview, Geoff Neal revealed that a knockout victory will probably take him closer to the title shot, adding that he himself will stay quiet, in case he loses or wins via a drab, unanimous decision.
“I feel once I beat Wonderboy, I fight one more person, and then I’ll fight for the title” – Geoff Neal speaking to Line Movement MMA
Speaking to Line Movement MMA with James Lynch, Geoff Neal said, “Especially if I finish Wonderboy. If I win a boring decision I’m probably not going to say s**t but if I do something spectacular and impress people, I’m gonna start throwing my name in the hat. I’m gonna start being more vocal about what I want and who I want to fight.”
“I would feel like after I beat him, maybe one more fight, and then I’ll go fight for the belt or maybe I’ll go straight to the title shot depending on the landscape of the division. I feel once I beat Wonderboy, I fight one more person, and then I’ll fight for the title.”
Do you think Geoff Neal has the firepower to stop Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson and progress up in the rankings?
