In the Wild Card round, no one expected the injury-depleted San Francisco 49ers to embarrass the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles without star tight end George Kittle for most of the game.

The 32-year-old became the sixth starter to suffer a season-ending injury. Since he tore his Achilles tendon this late in the season, it is unlikely that the Iowa Hawkeye will suit up until this time next year.

Achilles tears take a year to recover, as the likes of Aaron Rodgers and other players have proven over time. However, when it comes to the 49ers, a Washington Post investigation led them to deduce that Kittle could take longer.

In the second quarter, 49ers star tight end George Kittle suffered a torn Achilles tendon, the kind of injury Peter Cowan claims supports his viral theory that EMF has turned San Francisco into “the NFL’s soft-tissue graveyard.

The Post revealed

This is in response to Peter Cowan, a self-described “board-certified quantum biology practitioner,” who, the article reveals, claims that the presence of an electrical substation near the team’s Santa Clara facilities is degrading players’ bodies.

The theory gained steam when Kendrick Bourne joked that the power plant was the cause of the rash of injuries the team suffered this season.

The Washington Post mentions that the aftermath of this has seen players call their agents, with others around the league wondering if this was true. With Super Bowl LX coming up at Levi’s Stadium, the NFL, the 49ers, Silicon Valley Power, and the city of Santa Clara have decided not to comment about this.

Doctor has another theory behind George Kittle’s injury

That theory has also received some blowback from established researchers in the field, with one particular doctor providing an alternate theory as to why George Kittle joined several of his teammates on the medical table.

It’s only become an issue in the last 7 or 8 years, which actually coincides perfectly with when Shanahan took over. And he has a notoriously rigorous practice philosophy that’s been talked about countless times. It’s literally meant to break players down to then build back up.

Dr. Brian Sutterer wrote on X

The doctor added that the San Francisco 49ers have been using this practice facility beside the power plant since 1988. That alone is enough to debunk the theory, as the team has faced injury problems over the past few years.

He particularly pointing out that Kyle Shanahan‘s methods might be the cause. Since athletes do not work out as much as before once their season is over, the combination of the head coach’s methods along with the lack of offseason conditioning, could be causing these injuries.

Claire Kittle had frustrated reaction to watching George Kittle go down

When George Kittle was still on the field, his San Francisco 49ers were six points behind the Philadelphia Eagles. It was the first play of their second-quarter drive when QB Brock Purdy connected with his tight end on a six-yard play.

However, after going out of bounds, Kittle could not get up, and his teammates came over to check on him. During this time, as is evident from a video shared by Kristin Juszczyk, her close friend Claire Kittle was frustrated.

She wanted her husband to get up and continue playing, as the 7-time Pro Bowler is known for his toughness and grit. Once she realized he was not going to get up, she let out a frustrated expletive, knowing this was going to change their life.

George Kittle is about to get surgery, which means his recovery will take the entire 2026. Therefore, for the very first time, the couple will spend almost the entire NFL season at home.
