There is no shortage of celebrity appearances in WWE. While most appearances are highly successful for these public figures, things may not always end well. George Kittle, who appeared at WrestleMania 39, faced some backlash after his appearance at WrestleMania 39.
According to ESPN, Kittle received a message from the San Francisco 49ers General Manager shortly after his WWE appearance. John Lynch texted him, saying that he hoped he had fun. However, he told the tight end that he wasn’t allowed to do something like that again.
John Lynch continued saying that they did not have any problem with his ventures outside football as long as he did not get hurt. The 30-year-old had not informed the San Francisco 49ers beforehand that he planned to get physical at the show. Kittle getting injured would also void his workout bonus worth $100,000.
WrestleMania 39 saw an impromptu match take place between The Miz and Pat McAfee. The match saw interference from Kittle, who laid out the former WWE Champion with a clothesline. The A-lister was then laid out by a punt kick from his opponent, who picked up the victory at the biggest show of the year.
Was George Kittle supposed to appear at WrestleMania XL?
This message by his general manager did not bother George Kittle too much. He claimed that he would rather ask for forgiveness than for permission. Furthermore, he revealed that he would be open to making more appearances in a wrestling ring.
Kittle wanted to work with WWE at WrestleMania XL. However, he was unable to do so as he recently underwent core muscle surgery. Even if he were physically fit, he would ensure to not get too physically involved so that it came without a risk of injury. WWE eventually went with Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson for their choice this year, fitting in with the location of the show.
The 49ers player claimed to be aware that football was everything for him. Thus, he avoided other physical sports, such as skiing, as well. However, fans and wrestlers greatly enjoyed his stint at WrestleMania 39. In fact, the current WWE Women’s Champion, Bayley, recently said that Kittle had the personality to be a wrestling star.
