For once Brock Purdy got the chance to take full advantage of a complete offseason training. During his rookie season, Purdy was fighting for a roster spot while in his second year, he had a UCL tear in his throwing arm, decommissioning him until the last few weeks before the pre-season games began.

If one teammate witnessed Purdy’s growth since he walked into the San Francisco 49ers facility from day one, then it’s tight end George Kittle. Being a fellow Iowa graduate, Kittle kept an eye on the 2022 last pick of the draft, and according to him, the 24-year-old is slowly growing into a leader.

While speaking with Jennifer Lee Chan of the NBC Sports Bay Area, Kittle claimed Purdy is ‘The Guy.’

He looks like the guy, which is really nice. He’s in the building every day and is the same guy every single day, consistent.
George Kittle said

Purdy has no other option but to go the extra distance because unless he wins a Super Bowl, his talent will not be recognized no matter how much Ed McCaffrey defends him. Since taking over the starting quarterback role, Purdy led the 49ers to two NFC Championships, winning one and a Super Bowl appearance. However, questions about his ability as a match-winner remain, per Shannon Sharpe.

Despite the chatter and even his backup earning more than him, Brock Purdy continues to strive to get better at his skills.

It’s fun seeing him yell at guys when they don’t hit their route depth or have the wrong landmark.
George Kittle added

Purdy received a near-perfect grade (99.9) on passes thrown 20 yards or more. PFF placed him above newcomer CJ Stroud (98.6) and veteran Super Bowl winner Matthew Stafford (97.8).

Kyle Shanahan agreed with George Kittle about Brock Purdy’s growth in the off-season

If a partially healthy Purdy can play in the Super Bowl, then it’s scary how good a full off-season experience under his belt would make him.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan disclosed that his quarterback is already way ahead now than he was last season.

He is [definitely] ahead of where he was last year this time. It's been awesome for him to lead us through the whole offseason, just drill-wise and everything.
Kyle Shanahan said during a recent press conference

The 49ers have a tough ask as their opening-day fixture. They will face a fit Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets side at home on September 9th.
